It is one of the worst science fiction movies I've ever watched. The fact that Netflix informed 48 millions subscribers watched in the first week is due to the fact that they disabled movie reviews, so seeing it is a movie with Sandra Bullock, one thinks it is a good one, so millions may have thought similarly. A total waste of time, and they left it open for a part 2.
And just on the logical side of the events... Bullock and children carry a box with birds. They go through the rapids and the canoe turns over, having the actress a big time rescueing the children. Finally once at shore they begin their final walk or run. Everything else and the boat are gone. Eventually they reach their destination and now saved, the bird box appears out of nowhere and the birds are set free.
Some could say that it is a symbolic figure of the situation, the name of the movie, etc. That I did not get what the director was trying to express. Well, for me is just lack of continuity, logic, etc. He could have used other animals or concepts to connect the dots.
Another one: Why if it is so dangerous eventually Bullock has to yell in the middle of the river if somebody was there. Either your hide or ask for help, but mixing the two when they know people are out there killing, does not make sense. Give me a break.
And I could continue dissecting all the ilogical events and mistakes.
