Joaquin Phoenix has always been an underrated actor, imho. Sure, he's taken some dud parts to pay the bills, but this redeems his every lesser performance. Oscar for Best Actor signed, sealed and delivered. Guaranteed. Great job, JP.

Haters be hatin'. Slaters be slatin'. Look, I went in to see this film with my fingers crossed. And I walked out with my hands held high. It is a triumph and a prequel that sets the stage so well for 2007's Transformers. Sorry, but even every G1 fan I talk to whom has seen it agrees - it's amazeballs. Sorry - "Radical!". Just to even attempt the opening Cybertron battle scene was gutsy. Well done, writer Christina Hodson and Director Travis Knight. BTW - the music is perfect. I know because I was a Smiths fan in '87.
