Rarely are high hopes and expectations met, let alone surpassed, but this movie did it for me. SO MUCH FUN! Silly, hilarious, sweet, tender and crazy with action fight scenes: what more could you want? Honestly, I wanted to watch it all over again as soon as it was done ❤️ Go see it!

Shakespeare remains one of my great loves and I adore Upstart Crow but yikes, this movie is not good. The fake nose is beyond distracting, the scenes in pitch dark are annoying, and the casting ridiculous: I love Ian McKellen, but the Earl of Southampton was nine years younger than Will. Wildly disappointing.

Finished the excruciatingly long and very predictable season one. Will hate watch season two because I have no life 😋 Note to writer/s: no one talks like any of the characters. Edited: SPOILER ALERT Why did you kill off James? What did he ever do to anyone? Also: what kind of monster doesn't say goodbye to the parents of the deceased (who also happen to be YOUR FREAKING INLAWS)? Rose, that's who, because it's all about her.

Not proud of it, but I haven't read much Dickens, yet I found this film to be an absolute delight. I laughed out loud quite a few times. Utterly charming. Unless you're befuddled (or worse) by the casting of "ethnic" actors (racist, much?); if so, you're on your own, pal.
