Very hard to stomach the true evils of slavery and man's inhumanity towards man. But the haunting score, Will Smith and the casts acting, cinematography and story line are stellar. I didn't want to watch it, but couldn't stop.

I was only 15 when I first saw this movie. As a kid whose Dad managed a drive-in theatre, I saw many many many films. At that time I thought it was the best movie I had ever seen, next to Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid and The Godfather and Jaws lol. Watching it again at 60, I still think it is one of the best films ever! Redford and Newman together, priceless!!

Very moving, beautifully understated film about the connection between humans and horses, with the power to heal a broken spirit.
