Ok, so this movie was definitely visually stunning but, if you’ve read the book and expect to become connected to that same story and great characters that made the book good, you will be thoroughly disappointed.
SPOILER WARNING
Valentine isn’t a good father who wants to help his daughter and feels remorse for causing her death like in the book, he is just a terrible person who has no motive other than power, he leaves Katherine on a burning London and almost leaves her to die as he attempts at an escape.Shrike, although his motives are explained a lot more you don’t know him well enough to care about his death and he had a much less amazing death as in the book as he just kind of dies as he sees a forced love story. Also Tom and Hester go from strangers to lovers in around hour which makes no sense. The anti tractionists who die in their planes where just characters put there so they could die later on and I didn’t really care when they died as it was very expected. Anna fang had one of the coolest deaths though and as soon as I saw her on the tv at the beginning I knew she was going to be good. Every scene with the traction cities were very entertaining to watch. If you want to watch a movie with a lot of action packed scenes, a story line that doesn’t get you engaged with the movie at all and every character thrown at you right at the beginning with no good explanation then this is the film for you.
