As a fan of the original Baldur's Gates (yes I'm that old), and a fan of Larian's Divinity Original Sin, I thought this would be a great extension of the series. Sadly, after playing for 78 hrs and having exhausted most of what there is to do (I originally reached the end of the current environment at 45 hrs, but went back to find side quests), I cannot recommend this game in it's current condition and current cost,
Yes, the D&D implementation is great and the map is already fairly extensive with a number of things to do, but I found the characters boring (except Lae'zel) and the mechanics frankly obnoxious. The inability to organize my spells, attributes, etc in the hotbars made me crazy, plus the general lack of the kind of spells I would have expected to acquire left me frustrated - spending way too many hours trying to decide what to use in a given instance.
Oh yes, and the load times will prompt you to write your will for fear you may be found dead at your PC waiting for a load to finish.
Let's hope they can pick this up - a LOT.
