I was disappointed in the fifth installment. Visual effects, charismatic characters and lots off action cannot make up for a story that dead pans halfway through the movie. Not only did Disney go off track of where Stranger Tides was leading to or could have gone, the story of Dead Man Tell No Tales was noticeably lacking and didn't have the depth of the previous four films. The passion to tell a good story is what made the movies so memorable. It was as if the creative group responsible for Pirates fell off the face of the earth and all that was left were a bunch of mediocre writers trying to fill shoes too large for their talent (or, lack there of). As much as I enjoyed seeing Bloom and Knightley reprise their roles I felt their comeback was forced due to the movie's vain attempt to match the quality of its successors.
