I was impatient and resistant to the nostalgia and the reflection as Lara's story unfolded. But I was eventually warmed by the happy and unhappy reflection of Lara as she relates a sense of peace and extreme love for how her life turned out. It was a very intimate tale that Ann Patchett made relatable.

A brilliant portrayal by all actors as they tell a story of a devastating disease. If it is at all possible to see what a person suffering from this illness sees every day, this movie captures it all. Not an easy task. You are strapped in immediately and it is an emotionally draining ride.

I wished the lighting was better. There were some scenes that were so poorly lit, almost dark, to the point of being indistinguishable. Too much staring, and threatening dialogue that went on a little too long. I wondered about the editing on these two points.

A very unique set of characters, great acting, and the interwoven relationships of the culturally different stories is well defined. I thought by episode 8 that it could have been shortened, but on reflection, there are numerous characters, and each one has a fate to be determined.
