I’ll begin with the bad parts first, then explain why I thought it was a great movie.
First off, the movie derailed from the video game it was based off. Scenes were added that didn’t happen in the original story. Some characters changed sides to parts of the conflict where they were not originally. Characters were also included that played no part in Injustice, and other characters that played a larger rule were simply not included. The movie didn’t end in a satisfying way.
Here’s why it was a great film. The biggest reason was entertainment. Superman is one of my all-time favorite heroes, yet we don’t get enough movies or shows that show his darker side, besides Amazon’s “Homelander,” and “Invincible.” With an honorable mention to Brightburn. Without spoiling the film, Batman faces Superman in ways that require more intelligence and less fist fighting. Which was a bit more realistic for Batman to do than the video game. Despite the film’s flaws, some of those flaws even contributed to why it was good. Events that weren’t in the original story like the overthrowing of certain real life dictators and leaders, added intrigue to how the world would respond to a more violent Superman.
The film could’ve been more faithful to the original storyline and been better. But it was worth watching, and I hope this will open more doors to future “Injustice” type stories.
