The show is slightly below average with an exceptionally ugly style. The animation is not great and there is almost no emotion in their faces. The plot of each episode is pretty basic and doesn't bring anything new to the table. The positives of the show is that the family is depicted as a pretty happy family that has a good father figure that isn't a total idiot like many shows. The daughter comes across like a more realistic/tame depictionof the teen girl tropes you'd see in any of the dozens of animated shows. The family also gets along well and seems be content where they are, instead of focusing on always trying to get rich like other shows might focus on. There is about 1-2 decent jokes in each episode if I can remember right. Overall wouldn't ever reccomend it to someone, but I think there are some good things in this show, even though they are few and far between.

I had never heard of this franchise before watching, so I'm not coming from a place of bias. This movie is a complete mess of cliches and lazy storytelling. The animation is often below television show quality and the 3d models look like they belong in a low quality show from a decade ago. I can get past the animation, as the story matter more to me than the visuals (that's coming from an animator by the way). However the story is a total joke. All the characters are flat 1 dimensional and totally forgettable. *Spoilers* When the handicapped character gets transported to the other world he has almost no reaction to being able to walk, and he shows no difficulty in walking, running, and swimming. Both of the main boys are able to fight with swords all of a sudden and take on multiple attackers, and can fight in full plate armor without any sign of being tired. The mercenaries and the animal people really didn't have any real influence on the plot. The one main boy turns evil and tried to kill several main people and it is just ignored after the SUPER predictable villain is revealed. It was so obvious that we called it the second we saw the character on screen. The fights were not exciting and there were a decent amount of poorly coordinated scenes and logical inconsistencies. We predicted the twist, the climax, and the "surprise" ending within minutes of them traveling to the other world. Other more generic cliches that appeared were: person falls asleep at the wheel and crashes, a love triangle of main characters, the "you were from here all along" runaround, and the everyone wins happy ending. Overall I thought it was super boring and not fun to watch, but i ironically thought the first few minutes were setting a more interesting story than after the magic got involved. There was a bit more "show don't tell" in the beginning, but it turned into a "I must talk the story at the audience" as it went along. I almost wanted to give it 2 stars, if it weren't for the bloated runtime, flat characters, simple generic story, bad twist, sub par animation, and overall blandness. :/
