The information presented in this documentary agreed with many facts I learned about the fishing industry from esteemed ecologists in the field like Carl Safina. In his nonfiction account of the albatross life on the Hawaiian islands called "Eye of the Albatross", Safina reports that the majority of the plastics collected by scientists on the Hawaiian islands and in the Pacific Garbage dump is from fishing nets and fishing gear, which the fishing industry just dumps into the Pacific Ocean. When I read that several years ago, I stopped eating fish and supporting the fishing industry completely. Watching this documentary just reinforced everything that Carl Safina wrote about in his scientific account of seabirds and marine life, and how the fishing industry is really the biggest cause to the plastic pollution problem in the oceans and the biggest factor for the extinction of marine life.
