Ripper Street is by far my favorite series. The writing, actors, and staff have done an outstanding job of presenting the social and political activity in the neighborhoods of Victorian England such as Whitechapel. I was thoroughly engrossed from the start with the variety of strong and diverse actors; some we love, some we despise, and some we just tolerate. Then suddenly the existing circumstances change as characters reemerge to be faded or jaded. The rise and fall of its people shows the true nature of life. In the last episode when Edmund reaches out to the last remaining Whitechapel connection and she announces she is leaving and receives the letter from America about Jack's death, stares at the picture of his daughter and her family along with Drake's portrait on the wall, the flashbacks are hard to watch. Truly the best part of his life has already been experienced with incredible friends and memories and he continues with his life's work. I watched all 5 series in 4 days. Last night I finished and today I am regrieving as I relive. Wow! Thank you to all who assembled the thoughts and creative ventures of Ripper Street. It has set the bar and papered the wall.
