WoW is the only game I always come back to. I'm not saying it's perfect, there is no perfect game. But if you're looking for a REAL deep MMORPG, World of Warcraft and it's lore will not deceive you.
Forget about the haters. If you have ever touched ever so slightly game development you know that managing a game this BIG is a tremendous task on so many levels but I won't speak about technicalities right now, instead let me tell you what makes WoW so great. So many events of all kind that would take too much time to write, literally 15 years of content, so many people, don't believe people who say it's dead, there is like a total of 260 realms and most of them are full and we're talking Blizzard network infrastructure which is way far from being little. I couldn't know where to start. You will get attached to your main character somehow, even though that might sound crazy. You'll discover that the world is HUGE and diverse, god knows I opened this game a lot of times just to go chill with my friends somewhere in Azeroth. First off, it's the way to max level then there is endgame content which is basically infinite at this point with so many things to do. I'm talking questing, leveling some items or skills or power or something related to your class who knows, farming anything from common herbs to 0,03% droprate mounts, factions reputation, professions like mining, blacksmithing, inscription, jewelcrafting, herbalism, alchemy, etc I won't name them all, equipment, dungeons, raids, pets, items, apparences collections for transmog, stats optimization, arenas, battlegrounds, titles, friendships, ennemies and so on.
If you have never tried WoW or never REALLY gave it a chance, please my friend, I encourage you to do so. And who knows, maybe you'll find in World of Warcraft, something you would've never found anywhere else.
