Full disclosure...I am the author and I'm copying a 5 star review over from the Amazon reviews so that people can find a review 🥰 you can find the original onthe amazon page 😀 An amazing book about saying goodbye to someone very dear to us Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 24 October 2024 It is well written and sums up the experience of losing a loved family pet perfectly. I found it intensely moving and the love they had for their dog shines through. We lost our first rescue pooch to cancer about 6 years back, and I found myself in tears reliving that moment while reading The Best Goodbye. Dogs give us some of the very best days of our life, and one of the worst, because we have to make the final decision, albeit with the dog's best interests at heart. It doesn't make it any easier of course, but we should always draw comfort from the fact we're doing the right thing at the right time, and that our loved pooches understand that when things get to a certain point, and their quality of life becomes so compromised with their condition, it is the kindest and most loving act we can do for them. Still miss 'em intensely and cry though, and this book was lovely in the way it described the author's own journey saying farewell to their pooch! If only we could offer the same kindness to our human relatives.
