Shows the other side of the whole "enforcer VS goon" argument. Everyone looks at these recent enforcers who have tragically died saying it is all fightings fault, these warriors didn't pass because they were fighters! How many people across the globe struggle with addiction and mental illness and it goes untreated? That should be our focus when hearing about these types of tragic ends.
We have people like Marc Savard who still to this day have trouble with concussions they suffered. How many real fist flying fights did he get into? One more hit to Crosby and we will be hearing about him having trouble remembering his kids name or when did he get into his car.
Cheap shots have and unfortunately always will be in hockey and other sports but having enforcers helps keep some of that in check.
Where the real change needs to be made is equipment. Like Ice Guardians says these shoulder pads and elbow pads are like suits of armor that protect the person hitting but destroy the person being hit.
I am a avid B's fan but more importantly I am a diehard hockey fan.
Long live the Enforcer
