Charu (Geetanjali Thapa) has recently moved to Mumbai, she is searching for a high paid job and lives with her friends in a rented apartment. One day a workman (Murari Kumar) comes to her home to paint a soiled wall.
Charu, unaware about the appointment as her flat mate had booked it. After a while the man seems to have fainted and lies on the floor. Since she doesn't know anything about that man she must take the responsibility to help him by herself. That will be the start of her trip to find that man's lost identity.
The more she searches, the more she asks, the more it gets unplumbed and the more we find ourselves catechizing.
Questions become even more important, as Charu puts her own life on hold to unearth the identity of this stranger.
The first half starts like a typical drama which is followed by thriller and some parts of mystery. The second part is a purely a realistic docu-drama that doesn't try to waver anything allthough the ending could have been not so brusqued.
Its worth mentioning that I.D. is also the first film by an Indian company Collective Phase One which aims to help independent filmmakers that simply love making films which don't need to deal with big studios.
Geetanjali Thapa is just Wow !, she has just nailed the charecter, her natural acting, subtle hints of fear & worry, furrowing her eyebrows at periodic interval, her ameaturish detective work everything was just great, for the movie she has been honoured with two awards for best performance-LAFF & IFF and was released in Busan Film Festival.
Ostensibly simple but am not sure of everyone liking the eclectic way of film making.
