Tons of symbolism (pagan) and metaphor. Loved it. Was a bit creepy and felt like social commentary on patriarchy and its oppressive nature on women. It is gory but worth watching.

Boring at first, the brothers storyline made it interesting and funny later on. Meh, it was ok.

The protagonist is the villain in this movie. 1.5 hours in and I didn’t know exactly what the film was about. I love the actor Jesse but in this film there was close to no acting for his character. Benedict is one of my favorite actors but some of his lines were not convincing unfortunately. The location was gorgeous, the mood was appropriate, there was a lot of tension built throughout between Ben and Kirsten and her son in the film.The ending was, I thought, just pointing out how some are unlucky in life by random chance. Or Maybe I missed something..? But there were some really powerful moments where Bens characterization of Phil stand out I.e. how he tightens the rope, how he walks, etc. It was an ok movie. Not a must watch. The pace is slow for those who are wondering.

Beautifully shot, excellent ending, I was rooting for all of it to happen, the tripiness of the visuals perfectly expressed the travelers pov. It was daring, the world building was so detailed, and the relationships and personality of each character was clear and intriguing. This film has a European feel to it which I love but many an American will not get. There was a lot of uncomfortable laughter during the gore which I didnt understand. You ahould be horrified! Not laughing! It was perfectly horrifying. :)
