It has been stated many times before but I am stating it again..."I really wanted to like this show"... I understand that this is supposed to be a "smart person's political thriller" but this show tries too hard to create an intensity and intrigue that just is not there...The dialogues and the storylines are verbous and meandering, plus, there is so much misplacement within the storylines as they are overly cerebral when there should be emotion and yes, overly emotional when civility and reserve should be in place... Plus it seems as though Kerry Russell as the lead role of Katherine (The Diplomat) is trying too hard to convince the audience that she the smartest and toughest person in the room--so much so that her overacting borders on the obvious--I like that the Katherine character is smart, intelligent not very "girly" or "vampy" but she should at least like being a woman. The performances rendered by the supporting casts are one-dimensional and lack-luster,overall...

I actually liked the movie better than the TV series, but, I still think series is quite entertaining. This "Downtown Abbey meets Weeds" crime comedy-drama is very easy to watch and the cast of characters and family dynamics are a lot more relatable. Plus I especially enjoyed seeing the British Diaspora being portrayed in a brilliantly funny and authentic way. I am looking forward to Season 2--I just hope that Guy Ritchie is not so short-sighted as to introduce that played-out "will they/won't they tension" between the male and female leads--their chemistry as equals is great as it is... and I hope to see more Black women and other Women of Color in the cast during Season 2--after all, Stephanie St. Claire and Griselda Blanco are two real life examples of Black and Brown women running the game and holding their own 😉

After years of the polished, overachieving but messy super woman of Olivia Pope with family to match, I really enjoyed seeing Kerry Washington play the very vulnerable but still messy Dr. Paige Alexander. What most people do not realize about therapists is that they have issues and a past and even trauma just like their patients but they have a gift and education to help others do the unboxing. Kerry Washington does well with conveying this reality--she does well with portraying complex and messy characters and situations. Delroy Lindo is incomparable in his role as father and grandfather who is trying to reenter and reconnect with his family and society--one of his best performances since Crooklyn. The supporting cast of novice and experienced actors are talented and personable and fit in well with the real and complex and intelligent and awkward storylines--plus Dr. Paige's mini-me is precocious and hilarious. There needs to be more shows that portray Black women and their children as more than volatile victims of circumstances and Black men and fathers as more than simple-minded, unfeeling and thuggish regardless of their past. The only mistake that the creators of Unprisoned made was partnering with Hulu instead of Netflix with this show. This show does not fit with the slow-placed, one-dimensional programming which is consistent with Hulu's format. Netflix would have given this show more of a chance to progress instead of cancelling it after two seasons --which it did not did not deserve.

Beauty in Black is just like a lot of recent Tyler Perry originals...A cast full of cringe worthy actors who max-out the ridiculousness of each tedious storyline without falling through those cheaply made scene sets. You know--Shows that are so bad they are funny to watch. But just like any other "long running bad joke" after awhile it just isn't funny anymore. And if Tyler Perry thought that Beauty in Black would somehow fill the void left Lee Daniels' "Empire" ended--He thought wrong! "Beauty in Black" is a horribly bad show that has been written, produced and performed in a horribly bad way. I like to indulge in a little "trash drama" once in awhile but from start to finish this show is "ratchet mixed with messy with absolutely no talent backing it up!" ...I doubt that a second season could make it any better...I gave this series one-star because I respect Hollywood veteran Debbie Morgan who is too good for this show! Plus I appreciate that this show increases awareness about the human trafficking crisis in this country and the danger and desperation in the lives strippers, sex workers and sexual abuse victims...

Awesome series from start to finish! It documents important moments and back stories in modern African American history while accurately and respectfully portraying all of its triumphs and darknesses. The casts and their character performances and productions were all exceptional. The storylines were very relatable. Even the performances from the new school actors meshed well with the performances of the veteran actors. This is the first time I have seen Kevin Hart in a dramatic role and as a producer it was impressive. Kevin Hart made Gordon Williams come across so personable that I wanted to see this man with a sketchy past and questionable character come out of his self created mess a winner. Absolutely well done! I hope that Peacock can continue to produce limited series as good as this one!

Nobody Wants This?! Watched it with friends who are a Adam Brody fans...and Well...I know that "I do not want it!" From what I can tell this show is enjoyed by viewers who enjoy watching programs where "the Jennifer Anniston, Meg Ryan, Blake Lively-types" win all day... The acting is mediocre, the story lines are unoriginal and predictable--I mean, if you have seen the last six seasons of "Friends" or any season of "Sex in the City" you have seen this show! Plus the character dialogues are just one rambling punchline after another... And...There seems to be a lot of veiled anti-Semitism woven in to the story lines which seems to fit perfectly with the narrative that an "underachieving, agnostic and neurotic Blonde" who only life skills are talking about bad dates and bad sex can stumble into the life of a hipster Rabi with a successful career just in time to "save him from himself" and inspire him to blow up his whole life "Only to be with..."Her"... And of course her "weird,wacky and WASPy family" supports her in all of her adorableness as she is rebuffed by those "mean ol' Jewish harpees" in her boyfriend's inner circle who she will gradually win over during Season 2 (and "no" I am not Jewish I just know the same ole BS when I see it)... The only reason why I gave this series two stars is because the performances of Jaclyn Tohn as Esther and Tovah Feldshuh as Bina were excellent... Otherwise I'll pass on this show

I hate that this movie came across my streaming feed because this is one of the worst movies that I have seen in awhile...The storyline moved at a glacial pace and the acting was comparable to that in a middle school play (no offense to middle schoolers). Not to mention that it is disturbing and shameful on so many levels that a Black man thought it would be funny to make a movie about another Black man who has bad credit, no money...and then...He and his 80-inch flat screen and PlayStation gets evicted! Now this dude is using his girlfriend who he doesn't even like and doesn't want to have a relationship--just so that he can have free food and a place stay...Plus to add insult to injury at the end of the movie when he finally reveals his true feelings and intentions this woman who is void of all self respect thanks him for "being honest" and let's him stay with her until he gets back on his feet without having to pay any rent...Really?! I know that stuff like this happens in real life but it is still not a good idea to make a bad movie about it...

So far, the show is just...Meh...The cast members all gave a good performance. I can appreciate the irony of the smartest person in the room, who is Allison, concluding that the only way to correct her off-kilter life and end her disappointing marriage is to kill her husband, Kevin. Plus I think that the underlying premise that being selfish, immature and annoying could mark you for death lays the groundwork for a unique dark-comedy. However the storyline oftentimes bordered on tedium. The show may get better but right now,I would consider this a "can miss" show.

Who would not like a Cinderella story? Which is I why feel badly about not liking this one very much...If Hollywood is going to keep making these " girl boss movies" with Cinderella spin to them, allow her to do something other than fashion design... Especially if she cannot walk in high heels! Real Talk, the girl power movie genre aspiration of wanting to be a fashion designer seems really counerterintuitive and it is just played the hell out! Plus, musicals are only any good when the entire cast has real singing and acting talent! Which is the most surprising and yet disappointing thing about this movie as the singing and acting talent was lacking, overall...The fab jams of the 70s 80s and 90s along with Billy Porter and James Corden are the best things going for this movie! Their performances pulled this movie out of the tailspin! But unfortunately I had to endure most of the movie without them...I appreciate the diversity of the cast but, on the other hand, Amazon Originals could have made more of an effort to cast people of color in more significant roles...And since they are trying to do "new things" I don't understand why Amazon Originals either could not or would not have a Latino Prince playing opposite the Latina Cinderella? Or why not any male of color playing the Prince? Hmmm...I am just saying that with all the changes and updates in this Cinderella, why is the Prince still White with blue-eyes and blonde hair? Or is it just me? (No offense to White males at all I am just making a point) ... The "in your face indy brave girl " performance of Camila Cabello seemed forced and a really overdone...Although a "brave girl Cinderella lead" itself is admirable ...It is very reminiscent of Brandi Norwood's Cinderella or the Merida character in the movie Brave or, evenQueen Latifah's character in the movie Just Wright--all three of these movies were way better than this one and they are free with the Amazon Prime subscription, too...😉

Wow! It is heartbreaking for me to see "Luther" playing the part of the stereotypical "mammy role"(in this case "manny"). It's not new story at all, it is Hollywood's version of the "Black Saviour", in which the down-on-luck servant to a hire-powered, wealthy family becomes the friend and "the rock" that the family's socially maladjusted, slightly insecure, spoiled brat of a daughter leans upon. Then, of, course, mammy or rather "manny" doles out his homespun wisdom, shows them the error of their highfalutin, materialistic ways and ultimately saves them from themselves. They, in turn, are so grateful And because he is a "part of the family now" they give him a leg-up and help him chart his path for success. If you have seen Shirley Temple and Bill "Bojangles " Robinson in a movie together, then, you have seen this show...
