It's a conundrum of a thriller/mystery. Character development of this protagonist is well-thought out. He is a strong man with a conscience, high moral standards, not used to violence, but will do whatever it takes. In somewhat alternating chapters, we get a peek at what Alicia is doing ,.... and that's mostly trying to find a way to escape her locked room where her captors have placed her. She's a great foil for her husband ... she's strong, and although she depends on Jerome to find a way to retrieve her, she's not going to be sitting in a corner chewing her fingernails. This is not the first of books I've read by this author. I enjoy his style of writing, the character development he achieves, an intriguing plot with a well paced story line.

This gripping novel is filled with suspense, angst, lies, and secrets. They all seem to be hiding something ... Sara, her husband, her daughter, the now retired detective who first worked her case. The combination of emotional, intellectual and moral qualities distinguishes each individual separately and together. The story is told by Sara through today's remembrances and through pages from her book. It's a real page-turner and the conclusion is absolutely riveting.

It's well-written with a plot full of twists and turns. Solidly drawn characters keep the story moving. There's non-stop action that begins on page 1 and continues until the explosive conclusion. Looking forward to Book 3!

This novella is a short, fast read filled with suspense. Suspects are many, but who would have wanted this young woman dead? Characters are deftly drawn, intriguing to watch.

it's a murder mystery wrapped around a lot of humor, and a lot of history. Josiah and her friends are in turn, loyal, trustworthy, and there's plenty of quirkiness to go around. Although 16th in the series, this is easily read as a stand alone.

The plot structure is well done, filled with action ... and romance. The characters are solidly drawn and most are very likeable. For followers of this series, several characters from previous stories make an appearance, while new ones are introduced. If you haven't read any of the series, be assured, this is easily read as a stand alone. The author has done a great job is assuring that the reader won't get lost.

This is a complex plot ... several story lines featuring some older Seals from earlier books, and a few new ones that will most likely have their stories in the future. This is a fast-paced suspense, with solid characters. Throw in a little spice and it's quite an enjoyable read.

This is well written, a nicely paced mystery with solid characters. Intrigue and suspense with twists and turns lead to an explosive conclusion. The is the beginning of a new series for this author and I look forward to seeing what happens next to these engaging characters.

The author has done a terrific job in writing about a very delicate subject. As an aside, she has included many statistics and phone numbers of helpful resources for these types of crime when committed. The author has done her research well ... and she brings much credibility to how these crimes are handled. The characters are solidly drawn ... you can feel the angst, the fear, the nightmares flowing from the pages. I am a little ambivalent about the ending ... but it was well worth the read.

This is a thought-provoking novel, well-written. Told by many voices, I was at first a little confused, but the author did a brilliant job in bringing everything together to make a coherent read. The characters are deftly drawn amid a time of domestic terrorism and the diversity world we live in today. There are surprises scattered along the way, guaranteed to keep you turning pages.
