It was very clear that JJ Abrams was back peddling from episodie 8, as he should have. Unfortunatley Return of Skywalker could have made a great trilogy in itself, but it was crammed into two hours and twenty minutes, as a result much of the plot was developed and executed poorly. The movie does a decent job wrapping up the trilogy but the lack of cohesion and mutual vision between where JJ Abrams and Rian Johnson wanted to take Star Wars was very apparent.
