Everyone who is posting a review about how good this film is needs a good hard look into their soul because it is clear they are more concerned about how good this film makes THEM feel rather than the autistic community this film was made for, because this film utterly fails them.
From incorrectly presenting autism to the point of mocking parody on par of a black face minstrel show to the advocation of potentially lethal and traumatizing restraint method, this film has long since passed the point of being merely a disservice to being an outright danger. This has been ratified due to the creator's displays of fragile ego and bile towards members of the community she claims she loves.
Representation is a difficult and complex issue. People deserve to be seen and heard in art rather than be pushed in the sidelines however it is also the right of artists to make the art they wish even if that art is offensive, controversial and even alienating. Despite my personal position being the latter side of the argument, it is telling that this film makes me say "these people who made this film should never be allowed near a camera and mic again."
This is a vanity project of a mad woman built on the altar of the plight of those suffering from autism. They deserved a better movie, and it is their voice that needs to be heard, not an out-of-touch pop-star.
Also the music sucks and the acting is cringe.
Cheers
