Interesting premise, with execution flaws. Josh Hartnett does his best to hold this film together with a fascinating turn as a villain. His performance was fun to watch, however, the rest of the film couldn’t live up to his work. The premise had promise, but didn’t feel fleshed out enough. The small obstacles that served as beats throughout the story had resolutions that came too easily and too quickly. The scenes felt flaccid and lacked the tension needed to build suspense. Overall, it felt flavorless. I would not recommend it.

4.5, but I’ll round up. This installment focused more on monster fights than human plots, which is just the way i like it.

I shouldn’t have waited so long to watch this movie. It’s dumb, but very fun, gory, entertaining-dumb. Solid B-flick. Will absolutely watch again. Warning: it’s bloody and they use a lot of swear words—definitely not kid appropriate.

I haven’t read the books. I love historical dramas, Arthurian tales, and I enjoy the Last Kingdom show. I figured I’d love this. My main problem is that there’s a lot of “telling” not “showing.” Most of the acting is fine, but there’s no chemistry between the actors, you don’t get a sense of connection or history between any of them. Also, it just doesn’t feel grounded. It has no emotional weight or gravity. The pacing of the scenes is too fast. I want them to linger a little longer in each scene, build the tension and the emotion. The scenes with Arthur show the most promise. The show fails to develop the characters and the setting. It doesn’t feel like you’re stepping into a fully realized world. And the wigs are very obvious and bad. Hard to get past that.

It’s watchable. When it comes to treasure hunting plots, it’s always more believable that older protagonists, who have studied history and other subjects a long time, would figure things out fast. That said, it makes a little sense that a young woman on DACA might study American history. The characters are fun, the storyline is a little ridiculous, but it’s a treasure hunting show, not an art house feature. It deserves a better rating than it’s getting. It’s light, silly fun. I applaud the diverse casting and in-show references to modern equality and civil rights issues. Everything is worked in in a way that still keeps the overall tone light and fun.

Give it a chance! Preface: I have not read any Witcher books, nor played any of the games. I’ve watched all the shows on Netflix. I had a great time watching this show. The production value is great, the story is intriguing, and the characters are interesting. The pacing was a bit rushed, but that didn’t bother me too much. If anything, I would have appreciated spending more time within this story. I loved the cast, everyone played their role handily. It’s a strong addition to the list of fantasy shows I want to watch. I don’t agree with the ratings and reviews for this show being so low. It’s fun! It’s a joy to watch!
