While it's not a perfect film, it's a great Phantom of the Opera film adaptation. A lot of people's feathers get ruffled because Gerard isn't a professional singer. While I can understand this gripe, his acting is wonderful and I personally find his singing still very good (especially considering that he isn't a professional singer). He brings a darkness to the Phantom's role that I feel like we don't normally see in the Broadway production. This is probably also the best Phantom of the Opera film that you'll find. There's many POTO films that exist, but most of them are truly awful. This one is beautiful, well acted, and has great music.

I found the movie entertaining, but good lord were the main characters about as smart as a box of rocks. I hate confrontation, but I can't imagine turning a blind eye to all the things they did. I wanted to throttle them multiple times throughout the movie. I love James McAvoy but the parents in this movie were so idiotic that it was distracting. SPOILER WARNING: Especially when they decided to go back to get their daughter's bunny. Oh HELL no. Just no. How dumb do you have to be to think that's a reasonable excuse to turn around? Panic attack or not, I don't care. She could've used her app to calm down. To think that the rest of the events in the story unfold because they decided to turn around at that moment is just pure insanity to me.
