So much is boring and silly, especially the JT murder and Jack hopping to whichever woman is available. But the most annoying for me is Phyllis, or rather the actress. Please tell her there is such a thing as the letter "g" at the end of a gerund. Walkin', talkin', sittin', goin', playin'......I know she wants to appear tough, as tough as the big boys, but it's pretentious and obvious, along with her facial contortions as emphasis. Please, stop.

Love Stephen's monologues, his Melania bits, etc. His interviews? Meh. But what's irritating me more and more is the intrusiveness of Jon Batiste during the opening. I actually find myself saying "Shut up!" when Batiste starts interjecting. Sometimes he actually talks over Colbert. The constant piano tinkling, nonsensical singing and inane utterances over the audience clapping are beyond annoying. I've noticed Colbert doing more and more Letterman type schtick: pencil tossing anyone? And Batiste is obviously being told to be his Paul Shaffer. But Batiste's voice is like fingernails on a blackboard, loud, intrusive. He adds nothing to the applause except more noise.
