I recommend this book for everyone and especially anyone who interacts with medical systems or anyone who has loved ones who live with chronic illness. It’s cathartic and validating. Also there is so much beauty in the narrator’s observations. Thank you for this work!

So good! I can’t recommend this book enough. It deals with themes like longing, feeling like an outsider, privilege in an intimate and nuanced way. You sense the narrator holding back and each image, experience fills in the spaces to create a nuanced world. Dunic deals with characters including animal and water with care and love, which as someone who loves being in and near water, I truly appreciated. Beautiful and challenging of the status quo. Read read read it!

Amazing book, it made me think of writing - and breakups, in a whole new way. Each story is like a tornado and you only realize after you've flipped the last page that Lacroix placed you as the reader in its centre. Every word is placed exactly where it should be. Bravo!
