Saw it when it was released and twice subsequently on long intercontinental flights. It has always moved me to tears especially the scene where the friendly wolf braves bullets and is shot. The film portrays a way of life that is long lost.

One of the finest films ever. It is a poetry about human relationship in troubled times. The cinematography set in the wide open pictuersque landscapes of Russia is astounding. It is a film bound to move you to tears and compell you to think of how events shape life.
