The Novel To kill A Mockingbird, which was published on July 11, 1960, is one of the best books that I have ever read. This book has a very profound meaning that still manages to compel us to ponder over injustices around us and this is what makes it so unique. It's a story that revolves around two siblings named Scout and Jem and their lives, which take different turns. They live with their father,Atticus Finch. The way the upbringing of both the children is shown in the book is extremely fascinating as they were loved and impart good values by Atticus. This book has showcased emotions like love, hatred, etc. Jean Louis, also known as Scout, is an eleven year old girl who has narrated the story. She is shown very curious about the society in the American countryside, where she discovers the presence of discrimination and inequality between whites and the people of colour. Atticus, is an advocate who stands by the blacks and fights for their equality. He is really a gem of a person who teaches his children that before judging anyone, we should always look at the world from the other person's perspective.
To kill a mockingbird has been translated into at least 40 languages and sold 40 million copies worldwide. This book also has several quotes. The most famous quote is "Remember, it’s a sin to kill a mockingbird." It means that persecution of people who do not harm anyone in any way, but only help and make the world a better place is a sin This quote reverberates the essence of the story. The storyline has been brilliantly executed and is therefore, a must-read.
