I never ever give up on books I paid good money for, but I was fewer than 100 pages into this book and had to start skimming it because the writing is awful - extremely simplistic, with a lot of telling instead of showing, and not very descriptive. The plot was compelling enough to make me want to find out the antagonist’s motive, which is the only reason I skimmed the rest instead of throwing it in the trash. Could have been a good book if someone else wrote it.
