I was fourteen or fifteen when I first saw this movie at a a theatre. I have rented it a few time and the magic I felt the first time from Sidney Poitier is there every time. It was significant for me also as I was beginning to feel lead to be a teacher. (Just like him!) I am in my 40fh year of experience working with kids in schools, and have never looked back. Truly inspirational if you let it be.
