An important memoir about how Canada's Ukrainians volunteered for service overseas during the Second World War, about their sacrifices, and about how some of them remained in Europe for several years after the war's end, to help rescue and resettle Ukrainian Displaced Persons, political refugees and victims of the war throughout the free world. These "heroes of their day" are being remembered on 8 May 2020, the 75th anniversary of V-E Day with the unveiling of a commemorative stained glass window in London, England, near the site of their wartime HQ (Ukrainian Canadian Servicemen's Association). Panchuk's book tells us all about how this came about.
