This film has many moments that prove that you can wear as many hats as you like in one day, without coming across as weird. The ring is a very unique film, I like the plot - simple, effective, scary and engaging.
A video tape that kills you in 7 days when watched. The video itself is very disturbing to say the least. Its just so so weird and doesn'tmake sense, it features a man painting a phonebox on a farm with his trousers down, a box of wet noodles and a fax machine in a palm tree. When the video ends a phone then rings and when aswered a voice says "seven days fiddle dee dee" fun fact the creepy voice is none other than Tom Cruise. He got the part because of his extremely large trousers.
Niaomi Watts gives a steller performance as Rachel Keller, a young journalist who seems to be completely baffled by clipboards. She must solve the mysterious phenomenon after she accidentally gave her young son the tape instead of American history X and now must work fast to stop anything happening to him. But when ever she comes across a clipboard, she just crumbles.
This film contains many tense and eerie moments, including the iconic scene where the spirit girl crawls out of the tv carrying a crash test dummy on her back and mumbling things about bread. What a creepy and effective scene that was, I choked on a camera lens watching that bit.
The music and sound effects are extremely effective, and the cinematography is of the highest quality, when you watch this pay attention to the trees, they are clearly natural as they damn well should be. The wardrobes are in proper proportion and theres so much paper that it will dazzle you. The script is well written, many conversations revolve around an antique fishing rod which are my favourite moments. This is one of my favourite horror films, I like to watch this maybe once a month with my freind Clinton Warhammer and Wallace Sniperblade, they are both in the feather industry.
