I watched it on one of the preview showing last week.
It was good. It felt like watching a D&D game that could have been at someone's table, and I'd know. I have run D&D for student and adults for several years now and played in several games. Even in more serious games, there is a level of humor and banter that is deeply woven into the D&D experience, and the film captures that well. The characters feel genuine, and while the story isn't the most original, neither are most D&D adventures. There are tropes that remain, some tropes that were pleasantly turned on their head, and some new and fresh elements to the story. The presentation of the D&D setting was faithful to the feel, to the material, and to the spirit of the community and the game. Would recommend watching it. I plan to watch it multiple times in theater. It has been a long time since I've wanted to do that with a movie. While some of the marvel movies have grown stale, and other nerd icons have shifted to t.v. shows on exclusive services, the D&D movie offers an adventure that needs will love and all audiences can enjoy without having to pay for yet another subscription. Worth getting out of the house and going to the theater. It's worth the experience.
