Obviously Blizzard are an awful corporation, but even if you "separate the art from the artists," this game just didn't totally appeal to me. The gameplay might honestly be good if you're into fast-paced competitive shooters, but as a fan of mainly single-player shooters, Overwatch just doesn't feel so great.
I enjoy having a lot of baseline mobility options in the shooters I play. Slide, dodge, parkour, etc. Instead of any of these, each character has one mobility-oriented ability. Some of these abilities are cool, but I find myself missing all these other options from games like Cyberpunk, Deathloop, Bright Memory, and Prey, the last of which isn't even a "shooter" for the most part.
There are some cool guns (the new rail gun character feels good) but again, just not as good-feeling as my favorite guns from Halo or Cyberpunk.
So this game just doesn't have some of the things my favorite single-player shooters have, but it does have one thing they didn't: a terrible community that you don't have the option to ignore. This isn't just an Overwatch problem, the gaming community in 2022 is the most pathetic it's ever been. Why would I deal with these people when I can have more fun in other games anyway?
