6/10,
Pros: new genre to delve into, dark, disturbing scenes, decent acting, gore
Cons: writing a bit lazy, predictable jump scenes, bad ending, didn't feel the sense of dread I was looking for
I was hyped for this movie but in the end I feel it was an okay and dry movie, not quite nailed, great idea but could have used more work, jump scenes predictable and the crashing to earth theme from unknown reaches feels pretty ripped off. The origin for the plot could of went into more detail about his powers and why, I dont like the, "he's evil because he's evil thing".
The ending was plain and lackluster and left a bad taste in my mouth personally. I felt that there should've been more reasons as to why the boy was evil and felt lost and couldnt identify with him or be against him, he was just plopped on the screen. I'll be honest there are some good parts as well, some scenes were disturbing and kept me hanging on to see whats next, gore was pretty impressive with the visual effects and I found the boy's acting hit the mark on the creepy aspect of the character which helped tie the movie. In the end, alot of work could of been done but it's not to bad of a movie. I'd recommend seeing it if you want something fresh and new, just don't expect to be on your toes. If there is a sequel, I might go see it, maybe it will answer some questions I still have.
