Perhaps the best book I have ever read, excluding the Holy Bible. I am almost through with it and have enjoyed every minute of reading it. Although my unit was never sent to Viet Nam, I was in the USMCR during the Viet Nam war and always had a keen interest about what it was like for our troops there. The stories by Viet Nam veterans along with their student sponsor are riveting and puts the reader right in the thick of the action. The book gives an excellent and concise history and tells from the soldier, sailor, marines own words what it felt like to be there. It has many very descriptive maps that keeps you geographically oriented through out the read. You can practically feel their emotions of the veteran contributors as they describe what they went through. The fear, the courage, the pain, the sadness, the pride and even the disgust at the way the generals fouled up the war and the left wing so-called Americans at home spit on some of the troops upon their return stateside. As I read, I teared up, I smiled, I became exceptionally proud, I became exceedingly sad. I have never learned so much in so little time about anything. This is an absolutely great book that remain on my bookshelf from now on. Thank you College of the Ozarks and thank you Jerry Davis and all who had a hand in publishing this great tribute to some of our patriots who have helped to make America the great place that it is.
