The franchise lost grips with its original storyline and essence that brought people in. After losing arguably one of its pillars being Paul Walker. The franchise tried to rebuild/ rebrand around Vin Diesel when really he doesn't have the range to do so. The franchise has just become a money grab for whoever owns its rights. The storyline is all over the place and lacks the fundamental aspects that grip the audience and keep them entertained on the edge of their seat.
