The first 40 minutes are great. Inspiring vision of early human deep-space challenges, tech, anxiety, and excitement. But the crew was poorly written. With the high risks of cutting-edge experimental tech responsible to safely transport over 2,000 wealthy people to an early human colony outpost, the crew would have to be amazing, highly-trained, high-credentialed people. They certainly would need to have passed intense psychological exams, stress tests, and social dynamic filtering to be entrusted with so expensive, high-risk, high-opportunity high-profile an expedition. The crew written into this script are far from that. Irrational, even idiotic decisions being made left and right. The Company would never have chosen these garbage-collector ruffians & bottom-of-the-barrel grease-monkeys as primary caregivers to this kind of an investment. Not after losing the Prometheus 10 years before. They'd have learned at least a few lessons from the previous failure. At very least arranged for a backup for Walter, with a duty roster that large? Dumb scripting. Especially when they reach the Engineer apocalypse city & the crew gets stupider & stupider when your suspicions would be going through the roof. The first 40 minutes of the movie are awesome, though.
