Richard Thorpe has directed a very colorful and atmospheric film with an array of engaging characters and exciting actions scenes.

A war film with a real punch in the gut feeling. These soldiers fight hard and very much want to survive. Enter McQueen and one of his very best performances despite having just a handful of words to say. Another lower budget classic from a master director. Perfect cast . The very definition of rugged and very atmospheric supports the squeezed in how can we survive this feeling that pervades the film.

The best of the era's many disaster films with one of Richard Harris's best performances. At first glance a surprise entry in Director Richard Lester's canon. But, it's strong ensemble cast, style of humor, and intelligent yet nerve raking action sequences really score. Everyone is fine but Harris really scores as a bomb disposal expert. Excellent cast with some on the verge of breaking out.

Under rated - excellent performances especially by he Astronauts and their spouses

This 1968 action film has scenes of violence more raw and startling than many of the overly CGI'd action films of today. One scene still makes me wholly uncomfortable (how did this get by studio censors?). Along with Young Cassidy Rod Taylor's best performance. One of the best action performances that you'll find. Jim Brown and Taylor make a powerful team.

A gently beautiful film - emphasizes the need for more understanding of the relationship we have and can have with nature. I was emotionally moved while learning much about life outside of my routine.
