this movie is simply a fun and dressed up parody of typical action films as an allegory for the patriarchy and capitalism. is the choreography great? no! is the cinematography great? i would say so - there were plenty of colorful and semi-profound scenes mixed in. the soundtrack was fun and lively and the main theme of the movie was really good even as it plays throughout the film. is the main character a little dull? i would say so - but the notion of an emotionless woman has been berated in girl power film after girl power film. so the main character has a hard time letting emotions through? isn’t that what women are told? to stop being so emotional? i may be giving the film some leniency but it’s all fair and due - never stop making films like this. i’ve seen bad action film after bad action film starring men, i’d love to see more with women. and whatever you think the plot is about - it’s about women sticking together, finding home and solace in each other (though, i would have loved a deeper focus on the mommy issues subplot). it’s a good movie, it’s art, it’s fun. it’s women, what more could you want!
