The movie is a slow burn, with masterfully applied violence. You will hardly ever be startled by the end of a character because you see it coming like a far off freight train but still when the living become corpses erupting into the afterlife in spectacular fashion you are pushed back in to your seat experiencing fear and amazement.
The beautiful back drop and combination of naivety and beauty make for an unsettling reveal of the horror, Think sound of music with johnny depp from fear and loathing in las vegas rolling into leatherface’s lair with julie andrews singing the entire time and not really worrying that the children keep disappearing.
