As a stand alone film it's ok but as a sequel, it's not the best. Storyline was pretty much a copy of the original. Some of the acting was ropey to say the least. Joseph Quinn and Denzel Washington definitely carried the film. If you've not already seen it at the cinema, I would hold out until you can't watch it at home.

I read the book a while ago after seeing that they were making the film version with Julia Roberts. The book was awful. Terrible storyline and even worse style of writing. The film is marginally better. The pace never really picks up. Even when major events are happening, there’s just no urgency. Not sure why the character of Ruth was changed from his wife to his daughter? I can only imagine that none of the cast actually read this book as I have no idea why such a strong cast signed up for a film that is so bad. Camera angles used are very off putting too. Just not good at all.
