Disney seems to have forgotten that swashbuckling, adventurous men were the center of the Star Wars universe, as well as the strong females they were accompanied by. This project, worse than many before it, crosses the line into “unrecognizable”. When you remove the heart and soul of the Star Wars franchise but leave the lightsabers, are you still left with Star Wars? No, you’re left with the empty, soulless shell that is the current state of Disney Star Wars.

The shaky vibe of the first episode is entirely overshadowed by the magnitude of the rest of the season. I look forward to hopefully 10 episodes in future seasons, and a budget increase if Netflix fairs well off this project.

Going into Barbie I was concerned that political overtones would overshadow any entertaining aspects of the film, but was absolutely surprised and astonished to have been met with a masterpiece in balance! This film gently reminds both men and women of what it feels like to walk a mile in someone else’s plastic shoes. It cracks jokes about men, which have been cracked by men about women for years, and was an eye opener. One scene in particular gave the movie away as so much more than a movie about Barbie, and that was the scene where Barbie encounters the young girls at school lunch. In this scene the lines are CLEARLY drawn as to what character is representing which people group. It’s genius writing at its absolute best.

Five stars for a great film! And an infinite amount of stars to the small percentage giving 1 star and proving the point of the movie for future viewers in these reviews! Show yourselves 😂

In one episode Velma is literally quoted as saying “if I was a rich white dude I would kill everyone just to get away with it”. Velma clearly was either not around for the OJ trial or can’t remember it.
