For me it was a trip down memory lane. (Early 70's). There was much I'd forgotten about the quality of her work.
I find that I'm glad I purchased it. I was about the titular age of the character Bonnie, when I first stumbled across Trots and Bonnie in the pages of the National Lampoon.
I enjoyed it then, I enjoy it even better in the here and now. Mainly because, I've gotten many more years of experience to give weight to the underlying messages.
Mostly it reminded me that I'd forgotten just how horny early teens were then. But then, when aren't they? Strange, how even though the times have changed, Ms. Flenniken's art still resonate in society today. We've come a long ways in the treatment of women. Yet we've still got a long ways to go.
Alas, it is not all of her work. However, it is a good start. Perhaps she can be convinced to create another collection of ALL her work in the future?
I will keep this collection of her work, on my bookshelves in an honored spot. That is if I can clear a spot suitable for it.
