With this series, Lee Child redeemed himself in my mind. To me the Tom Cruise movies were a sellout for super star action. I refused to watch the movies. I did, however, watch the previews and saw an action movie star give a good ‘Tom Cruise’ performance (just NOT Reacher).
I absolutely enjoyed this series, being a big fan of the books (read them all with the most recent in my queue to read).
However, there are a two criticisms I have:
** SPOILER ALERT **
#1: What gets Reacher’s attention with the body in the morgue are the swollen fingers that are attributed to the struggle - WHAT STRUGGLE? He took two shots to the back of head!
#2: (Continuity issue; swimming pool and gun) the two camera angles with gun show it on the bottom of the pool in different positions - one where he would need to scoop it up from below and one with gun flipped, allowing Reacher to grab it from above ready to shoot (the angle used where he grabs the gun). Now this is not uncommon in movies where you may see different camera angles with a glass with different levels of liquid or desk/table with items place differently. These are usually secondary to the scene. But here the gun is pretty much the focus in the scene.
The first issue is one that really stands out, because without it the dental work would be the only trigger to Reacher’s interest.
These are somewhat distracting but overall a great show. For me, forget the movies. This series is great! This guy IS Reacher (albeit a bit more attractive than the book description).
