I absolutely loved this show until the last episode showing ICE raiding the health clinic. This show has taken a political stand making our wonderful ICE agents out as something that is not real life or acting agents in deportation.
Such a disappointment. As I'm a middle line, and this episode took such an "over the Line" nonfactual and hurtful depiction of our current system.
I am now almost 60 YO and been the victim of discrimination.
My family was not privileged. As a family we cleaned Office buildings every night to supplement my Dad's income.
I grew up a low income white girl.
My family was active at our local "neighboorhood House".
A place where all races of children integrated during a time of integration. As children we never thought about the black, white, or Red differentiation. During the 1st integration bussing to our school, I felt bad for the kids coming to our school from NE Portland, they were so scared.
After becoming a Mother at age 19, I didn't have money to afford the prerequisite courses recommended for college entrance. Instead, I self studying and challenged the entrance course.
I attained my college education- becoming the 1st college graduate in my family.
I Graduated in 1986, Deans list in with an AAS in Dental Hygiene.
My Life & career was successful, attaining first in my profession in our State and the State of Alaska.
Accomplished, because I held fast to my non victim mentality.
To complicate life further, I learned I and my family have a genetic condition. Ehlers Danlos Syndrome, which complicated mine and my families life.
Obviously I can cry victim at any time.....
In today's world, I would have been totally bypassed for entrance into the Dental program.
I professionally served all races, all types of underprivileged, the Aids community, and the Native population.
I have remained a unbiased, non racist person.
Shows like Queen Sugar, while expressing frustrations in racism, should not cross that line of politics, legalities, or depict false realities of what is actually happening in a one sided view.
The balance has been skewed to Race & special Gender based privilege.
Instead, it creates great sadness to a lot of person's, proud Americans that don't consider those elements, when determining a person's ability, standings, or worth.
