I left the theater exhilarated, and I stayed that way for days. The film was brilliant, everything about it, but it took me a good two days to realize why my mind was so blown away. Unfortunately, I think we're all used to disappointment, usually the bar is set at an average height and things still fall below. Well, being familiar with the original Broadway cast recoding, knowing how everything LIn-Manuel Miranda touches turns to gold, having seen Anthony Ramos perform... I had the bar set extraordinarily high. As I sat in the theater seat I consciously thought, it cannot be as good as I am imagining. I was right, it was so much better. It smashed any expectations I had and that is SUCH a rarity I left the cinema on cloud 9 and it took days to come down... so I went to see it again. I caved and got HBO max, I listen to the soundtrack daily. There were moments in this film where I just said "Wow!" out loud, spontaneously, because the moments were THAT GOOD. Do yourself a favor... SEE IT. Then go see it again. And see it on the big screen if possible, it's wonderful on both, but the experience on a big screen... I just can't describe it. GO. Don't miss this one.
