If you didn't read these books then you will probably like this show, it's not horrible I wish it would take a breath and slow down a bit. It does somehow catch the original charm of the books with its World building even if it doesn't follow through. If you're looking for more of this world with proper explanations Better World building way better characters and plot and a story that isn't screaming to the next action scene as fast as possible! Then I highly recommend that you go pick up the book. But if you did read this book oh boy, it's not a bad watch but it will definitely have you questioning decisions and asking why? I won't say much on that regard but I will say this - I don't think people understand how much the ghosts got shafted in this series. The ghost in the book series were legit terrifying shapeshifting monsters that will chase you down squeeze through cracks whatever it has to do to get to you. they were legit terrifying. I was so looking forward to the Red Room and streaming staircase only to be left disappointed. I see everyone talking about how good the effects are, I don't care if they're good if all they do is float around with their arms out stretched. It's boring! At least to what it was in the book which was action-packed constantly on your feet constantly on the move or otherwise you're dead. One Touch! One Touch is all it takes! Dead kids are common in the series!
