Spoiler alert (if there is one)- Very poor ending. 450 pages later, they adopt Kiera’s son, Jake’s fees are paid Drew is on bail pending a new trial. What’s the purpose of the book - to remind everyone that everyone in the US south is a racist fundamentalist Christian? Add to it - the story itself is boring and slow moving. I’ve actually ended up disliking the Jake Brigance character. I read his first dozen or so books until I found them too formulaic. I read 2 more recent ones and found them much better. ATFM is more of the formulaic series.
