The main character always seems to complain about her opportunities, I found it annoying that everything was always about race. There was almost nothing interesting if you are looking for a book with a compelling story. I'm not saying books on racism are bad, The Hate You Give is am awesome Book, but you have to have a story that compels you further in the book without relying on the same topic the entire time.
