A hidden gem.
Gave this a punt on Xbox game pass not expecting much or reading any reviews prior. I’m a huge lover of space so thought it could either be right up my street or be so wrong that it hurts…
Right from the get go, and I mean even from the the start up menu, I was drawn into this game. Gorgeous visuals and beautiful music take you to a different place, and you are immediately finding yourself intrigued and longing to explore this alien world.
There are no patronising tutorials, but instead they very cleverly demonstrate the sort of things you may encounter in outer space through fun little games/puzzles on your home planet before the main launch.
I love the freedom this game gives you, where you can go to any area of the solar system, free to discover the mystifying truths of the galaxy in your own time and order. I’m also a big fan of the simplistic controls but how hard it is to navigator yourself through zero gravity, which gives it this added edge of peril if things start to go wrong.
Really took me by surprise this game, and has given me something to look forward to turning the Xbox on for. Such a welcome change from the usual games that are so popular at the moment and has changed the way I think about what can make a game brilliant.
Simple, but expertly executed.
